Angeliki Theoharis
Mezzo-Soprano
Angeliki Theoharis, mezzo-soprano, has been described by critics as a singer with "untiring stamina" who "shows her dark tone to great effect." Of her Jordan Hall performance in Il Trovatore, with Boston Bel Canto Opera, the Boston wrote "As Azucena, the gifted mezzo, Angeliki Theoharis, ground out her hair-raising chest tones and sang her top ones with courage and thrilling beauty." The Boston Herald lauded her performance in Cavalleria Rusticana: "As Santuzza, the heroine of Cavalleria, Theoharis displayed a voice like a canon, capable of launching one big, solid note after another, and created a largely sympathetic character."

Ms. Theoharis has been a featured soloist in many of the major halls in New York City, including Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall, where she performed with the Hellenic Music Foundation of NYC. Ms. Theoharis has appeared with the legendary Jerome Hines in La Forza del Destino and as Eboli in Don Carlo. Her other operatic roles have included Amneris in Aida, Laura in La Gioconda, Frugola, La Principessa and Zita in Il Trittico, Fricka in Die WalkŸre, Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Maddalena in Rigoletto, The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors and the title role in Carmen.

Engaged as a concert soloist with numerous New England orchestras, she has been heard in such works as Handel's Messiah, Duruflé's Requiem, Britten's Ceremony of Carols, Saint Saëns' Christmas Oratorio, Vivaldi's Gloria and The Magnificat by Vaughan Williams.
