SPEROS G. COUTSOUBINAS

Chancellor of the Consulate General of Greece in New York until 1982 and the Greek Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations until his retirement in 1990, after 30 years with the Greek Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Coutsoubinas is a graduate of Pantio University for Political Science in Athens, Greece. He studied law at the University of Athens and attended the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, prior to receiving his Master Degree in Political Science from the University of New York-Queens College.

Besides his long and distinguished career with Greek Diplomatic Authorities in the United States, Mr. Coutsoubinas is also well known as an accomplished writer since his college years. His articles, essays, studies, presentations - some in English mainly on history, national Greek issues and literature, have been published in Greek language newspapers in his hometown (Janina) New York and Argyrokastro (N. Epirus-S. Albania).

His 2nd Edition book "OHI" The national epic of Greece - The first defeat of fascism-The first allied victory" earned many high level comments and favorable critiques and its translation into English is being prepared.

At the same time, following in the footsteps of his late father George, Speros Coutsoubinas has completed 58 years of dedicated contributions, in a modest quiet way for the support and promotion of Greek national issues, mainly the Northern Epirus and the Cyprus questions. He still is, he says, on active retirement, thus giving meaning to the Aristotelian saying that "the energy of mind is life" while he handles matters of Greek law and legal documents. He also is a certified New York State Courts interpreter and translator. Languages: English, French, Albanian and working knowledge of Italian and Spanish.
